Aghaderg senior footballers registered their fourth consecutive win of the new league campaign in the return fixture against Newry Mitchels on Wednesday evening.
Playing with the benefit of the elements in the first half , Aghaderg started well with early scores from Chris McAvoy, however, the visitors remained in touch predominantly from free kicks. As the half wore on, excellent scores from McAvoy, Michael Fitzpatrick and Niall Lennon ensured that the Derg entered the half time break with a 4 point lead, on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-4.
The introduction of Keelin Doyle & Joe O’Kane at the beginning of the second half provided a fresh impetus to the attack. This culminated in a scoring spree of 2 goals (McAvoy & Fitzpatrick) and 3 points early in the second half, which effectively killed off any remaining hope that Mitchels had. The remainder of the game was played out in a competitive manner, with the highlight being the range of passing exhibited by Rory Simpson from midfield.

Next Friday the lads are at home to Glasdrumman, in what will be a tough battle against a resolute opponent.
