Aghaderg/Ballyvarley parade with the Artane Band
05 October 2009
Aghaderg GFC/Ballyvarley HC had the honour of leading all the clubs of the county in a big parade as part of the 125 celebrations of the foundation of the GAA. Some of the youngest members of the club were chosen to represent the parish in the event which saw hundreds of juveniles converge on Newry for the event. The parade, which was led by the Artane Band, walked from John Mitchell Place in Newry to the Marshes, the venue for this year's senior football final between Kilcoo and Loughinisland. Each club was announced on to the field and warmly applauded by the large crowd there for the match. It was quite an experience for all concerned. Let's hope it's not the last time, some of them will walk behind the Artane Band on a big match day. We hope to have some pictures and a video of the event in the relevant sections of the website. Check them out.
