A young Aghaderg team entered the Feile for the first time in their history and were placed in the A division along with Burren, Clonduff, Bredagh, Bryansford and Annaclone. The young team performed admirably in every game and after defeating neighbours Annaclone in a pulsating match, they played Bryansford in a winner takes all encounter.
A draw would have placed the Aghaderg girls into the Shield semi-final, but a last minute winner from Bryansford ensured that it wasn’t to be our day.
The performances across all 5 matches showed great courage and determination.
The management team were delighted with the young team, which was bolstered by our 3 U-16 players who led by example throughout.
Next year, 18 of this panel will be eligible again for Feile.
U-14 Girls fall short against Burren.
Aghaderg U-14s welcomed Burren to Aghaderg last Thursday in our second Grade A league match of the season.
The plan to add a second win of the season wasn’t to be, as the girls fell short, despite a spirited performance over the 60 minutes.
With a couple of minutes remaining of the first half, Aghaderg led by 4 points and were very much in the driving seat, but a late flurry from Burren ensured that the teams entered the break all-square. The Aghaderg girls continued to test their opponents right up to the final whistle. However, a coupe of late goals from Burren confirmed victory, with a scoreline that didn’t reflect the competitive nature of the match.
This was a strong performance from the team, but they will learn from this experience which will help them to develop over the course of the season.
U-14 Development team face Mayobridge
Our busy Bank Holiday weekend of action continued with our Development team facing Mayobridge on Sunday afternoon. The girls travelled to Mayobridge and performed really well against The Bridge.
This team continues to develop week by week and the regular matches are helping all players to improve dramatically.
Their next league match is at home to St Michaels on Sunday 15th May.
