U-16 LADIES THROUGH TO CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

03 October 2022

Impressive Championship Semi-Final Win for the Aghaderg U-16 Ladies footballers

The Aghaderg U-16 LGFA team gave a very strong team performance in Ballyvarley this afternoon to run out impressive winners against Saul in the Championship Semi-Final.

The match finished 3-12 to 0-02 and sets up a mouth-watering fixture against local rivals Clann na Banna in the final.
The reds enjoyed most of the possession throughout the game and the half back line of Sarah, Mairead and Emer dominated and really dictated the flow of the game. Saul found it very difficult to break through this line and were severely limited in the attacks they could mount.

The reds created a large number of chances, but our finishing wasn’t where it needs to be if we are to mount a successful challenge in the final.

The half time score was 1-05 to no score with Macie registering 1-01 and Clodagh and Chloe also contributing to the score.

The pattern of the second half followed that of the first, with the reds dominant in possession throughout.
The reds were on top in all aspects of the game and the forwards settled and began to take their scores more effectively. Clodagh had a big second half scoring 1-05 and Lauren made a big difference when she was introduced scoring 1-01.

The team gave a great display of athleticism, determination and fight today, in every area of the field. The type of attributes that you need to win Championships!

The challenge we face against Clann na Banna in the final is not to be under-estimated. They are a very talented side with some excellent footballers.
However, I believe the reds have the team to do the job.
We are really looking forward to the final.

A big thank you to Anthony McGrath who had the pitch looking like Croker today!
