Historic night for Aghaderg Ladies Football
14 April 2024
The first ever Aghaderg Ladies Minor Football Team took to the field this evening to begin their League Campaign against a fancied Teconnaught side.
In awful conditions, but playing with a strong breeze the ladies in red led the charge and played some tantalising football in the first half, building up an impressive lead to go in 11 points ahead, 3-03 to 0-01, with goals from Clodagh Simpson and Lauren Devlin.
This was definitely a game of two half and Teconnaught dominated possession and created some excellent scoring chances in the second half.
The Agahderg backline was tested to the limits and stood strong, as our forwards struggled to execute scores against the wind.
The standout moment of the second half being a penalty save by Niamh McAlinden.
All in all a great team performance on a historic night for ladies football in Aghaderg as we secured our first ever Minor Leage win by 6 points on a final score line of 3-03 to 0-06.
A great start to the season and we look forward to some good weather and great performance from this talented young team.
