U-16 Hurling

03 June 2024

Naomh Pádraig U-16s beat one of the kingpins of Down hurling with a pulsating 4 point victory over Portaferry in Ballyvarley, to remain in position to claim a spot in the Division 1 League Semi-Finals.

After a good 2 point victory the previous week away to a strong Bredagh side, Naomh Pádraig started slowly out of the blocks and found themselves 2-5 to no score down with 15 minutes gone. However, the boys slowly clawed their way back into the game and had reduced the deficit down to 5 points by half time.

In a second half where momentum ebbed and flowed, Naomh Pádraig found themselves trailing by 3 points with full time approaching but a late goal and a flurry of points meant the boys were ahead by 3 going into injury time. Some stellar last ditch defending meant Naomh Pádraig were able to hold onto their 4 point advantage and claim a rare victory over an Ards Club.
