Bredagh 3-16 Ballyvarley 2-14

The senior hurlers were away to Bredagh this evening on a lovely evening for hurling and the supporters were treated to a cracking game.
Ballyvarley opened the scoring with a Goal from Matthew Malone followed by three more points and was a thorn in the side all evening. Bredagh hit back with several points whilst Niall Lennon and Matthew added to the tally before a 32 min goal from Bredagh left the half time score 1-06 to 1-05.

The defence played really well throughout with some tenacious tackling however a long ball was picked up and rattled to the Ballyvarley net early in the second half followed  by a succession of points. Some changes were made moving players around with a couple of subs coming on and making an impact with a goal from Connor McPolin and a point from Barra Mag Fhionnbhairr and the come back was fully on, Matthew Malone added further points closing the margin at one point to two points until a late goal left 5 in it again whist both teams exchanged points before the final whistle. The forward line did some heavy lifting and put the Bredagh defenders under pressure and created chances where we just need to be a bit more clinical.

This was a strong team performance against a classy Bredagh side with a full squad contribution. Real progress is being made with what is a young squad and playing some good hurling.
