Senior Hurling

28 August 2024

St Bridget’s  Belfast 0-24 Ballyvarley 2-10

The senior hurlers played last years Antrim Junior Champions in a friendly on Tuesday evening, after a few weeks break the rustiness showed. Conor McPolin opened the scoring for Ballyvarley to level the game quickly followed by a break through the  St Brigid’s  defence by Matthew Malone who placed  it low past the keeper. The Home team forward line was fast  and accurate punishing any delay and the first half finished 0-11 to 1-5.

A strong second half for the home team despite strong resistance from Ciarion Davies Sean Boyle, Louis Murray and the Ballyvarley defence saw St Brigid’s open up the score line before Matthew Malone got a great lay  off from Barra Splitting the defence and rifled the ball into the top corner. Further points followed from Malone, Darragh McKay and Aidan McLean. This was a good performance from the home team who had a strong forward line and strength up the middle but despite some key player missing Ballyvarley gave a strong account.
