We were delighted to welcome not only our camogs to this year’s Cul Camp, but also a very special guest — Ronan Sheehan, manager of the Down senior hurling team.
Ronan led the county hurlers to victory in Division 2 of the National League earlier this year, and we were thrilled to have him join us in Ballyvarley. He spent time chatting with our boys and girls, who had some fantastic questions for him.
He shared powerful insights about player development, reminding us that “the diamonds are mined in the clubs and simply polished by the county.” He also compared young players to popcorn kernels — each one popping at a different time, in their own way. It was a wonderful reminder that every child’s journey is unique.
Ronan spoke fondly of the talent that has come from Ballyvarley over the years and gave a special mention to our very own Stephen Comiskey, who captained the victorious Patrick Rankins Féile team earlier this year.
To top off the visit, Ronan brought along the Division 2 League Cup for the children to see — a real treat and a source of inspiration for all.
A huge thank you to Ronan for his time, encouragement, and words of wisdom.
