Ballyvarley had a home fixture tonight against Carryduff in the Betsy Gray and a very entertaining game it was, in splendid conditions. Carrryduff opened the scoring with a goal after 4 minutes and Ballyvarley clawed the deficit back, before Carryduff had a period of dominance pulling away from the home side as their half forwards were causing the Ballyvarley defence all sorts of problems. However the home side kept the score board ticking over, and left the home side just four points down at half time .
Ballyvarley scored straight from the throw in with a Liam Conlon point and the Ballyvarley backs gradually got on top as they entered a period of dominance to bring just a point in the game before a high ball into the Ballyvarley box saw a Carryduff forward get a stick deflecting it in to the net. The home side stuck to it, as the intensity gathered and Two goals and Four points in the second half from Matthew Malone left only 1 point as full time was nearing. Ballyvarley had a couple of near misses and flashes past the goal posts that were inches wide which could have put this game in Ballyvarley favour, but a free in Injury time for the visitors saw them stretch the lead to two points when the final whistle was blew.
Another good performance from Ballyvarley and really pleasing to see 28 players stripped out for the reds and sets them up nicely for the Championship .
