What an incredible evening for our underage girls!

06 April 2026

We were absolutely honoured to welcome Aimee Mackin, Armagh senior player and Gaelic for Girls ambassador, to our club.
She was greeted with huge excitement and cheers from all the girls.

Aimee shared the story of her journey so far, from starting out at a young age with her club and kicking a ball around with her siblings every evening, to becoming one of the top ladies footballers in the country. She spoke about the dedication, hard work, and opportunities the game has given her, including the chance to travel and experience so much along the way.

The girls were then given the opportunity to ask questions, and they certainly rose to the occasion with some fantastic ones!
It was brilliant to see their enthusiasm and curiosity.

Aimee is a truly inspiring role model, and her commitment and achievements are something all our girls can look up to and dream of one day reaching.
It was especially meaningful to hear that Aimee herself once took part in a Gaelic for Girls programme when she was younger—proof of just how important these opportunities can be.

A huge thank you to @ulsterladies for making this special visit possible.
We hope that in the years ahead, we’ll see future @downlgfa stars
