Match Report
Ballyvarley made the short journey up to sun drenched Hilltown on Monday evening for the latest round of the league fixtures.
Playing in the sunshine and very little breeze Ballyvarley started on the front foot winning the throw in and scoring directly which set the tone for the 1st 15 mins out scoring the home team 1-09 to 0-01. This was as near of perfect 15 mins of hurling these boys have produced from decision making to defending as a unit. The water break suited the home team as the reds struggled to get the momentum going again. Resilient defending keep the Clonduff side living of scraps until near half time when they got a goal to give them a little glimmer of hope that they could get back into the game .
Second half began like the 1st end with the home team winning more ball which they turned into scores . Clean ball was hard to get in the midfield sector which turned the game into a dog fight. Clonduff clawed their way back into the game with 5 unanswered points. With the clock ticking down Ballyvarley stood up to all the challenges closing the game out with the last 3 points to run out 5 point winners. 2-16 To 1-14.
This was a fully deserved reward for young reds team missing a few of the more experienced lads but every man stood up when needed.
