Drugs and Alcohol Awareness Evening Weds 21st September
08 September 2011
Drugs and Alcohol Awareness Evening for
Parents and Children
On Wednesday 21st September 2011 at Aghaderg/Ballyvarley GAA Hall at
7:30pm a special talk will be given for parents and children, from P7
and up, about the dangers and harm caused by the misuse of drugs and alcohol.
Safeguarding our young people and their families is paramount. One of the
main ways of achieving this is to provide information that will promote a better
understanding of some of the key issues involved. It also provides an
opportunity for parents to address this topic with their children, empowering
and enabling them to make the right choices in their lives.
We have three key speakers who will individually address this topic – each
speaker will focus on their particular area of expertise. We are therefore very
grateful to welcome:
Warren Todd,
PSNI Drugs and AlcoholLiaison Education
Officer
Gary Doherty,
GAA/County Drugs Alcohol Officer
Deborah McCague,
REACT – Community and Drug
Support
Each speaker will be available afterwards to discuss issues and answer
questions.
Our overall objective is to promote a happier, healthier and more confident
mindset in our young people, to help them deal more effectively with the
pressures of modern day challenges.
