Success for U10 Camogs/ U14 Hurlers Represent County
28 September 2011
U10 camogs
Aghaderg U10 Camogs made the journey on Saturday to Portaferry to take part in an All County Blitz.
The B team were put up against Bredagh , Portaferry and Ballygalget. The opposing teams were stronger and a lot more experienced than the Aghaderg girls and were able to convert more chances, however our girls fought hard by getting in crucial blocks and hooks and did not make it easy for the other teams. All the girls played well with good shows from Erin Ferguson, Katie Lennon, Megan Conway, Emer McAnulty, Niaombh Thompson & Orla Stewart.
The A team started off slowly against a very good Bredagh side who scored two quick goals. They realised at half time that their performance was not good enough and they came out in full attack to shell shock Bredagh with two goals from Sasha McEvoy to level the game.
Final Score Aghaderg 2 – 0 Bregdagh 2 - 0
They then played Liatroim. From the start of this, Aghaderg took control and continued their attacking play. Emer Conway and Caitlin Armstrong dominated the midfield while Andrea Fletcher and Aoife McAnulty held the defence. Once again Sasha tortered the Liatroim defence scoring a goal which was closely followed by another from Sarah Bohan.
Final Score Aghaderg 2 – 0 Liatroim 0 - 0
The next match was against one of the Ards teams, Ballycran. Both sides fought hard and had chances denied at both ends. For a time of the match Aghaderg played with one less player when Sasha got injured. It was an evenly matched game with nobody coming out on top.
Final Score Aghaderg 0-0 Ballycran 0-0
In the last match, Aghaderg played Darragh Cross. They were very skilful and strong and were able to keep the ball in Aghaderg’s defence. They scored four goals and a point in the first half which looked very one sided. In the second half, Aghaderg had the wind and with Chloe McConville coming outfield, they took the game to Darragh Cross. They looked like a totally different side and Erin Ferguson scored a consolation goal.
Final Score Aghaderg 1-0 Darragh Cross 4-1
U 14 Hurlers
Ballyvarley players Conal McNally(Corner and Full back), Connor McPolin (Corner and Half Forward) & Eoin McConville(Goal Keeper) represented Co Down in an U14 development Blitz in Westmeath. They played two full matches where the beat Westmeath and narrowly lost to Laois. Well done lads .
