PRIMARY3/4 FOOTBALL BLITZ IN CLONDUFF
On Saturday 13th April 2013 Aghaderg Primary 3 and Primary 4 children performed very well at Hilltown Football Blitz. The first game was a hard fought contest against Saval where our team was narrowly defeated. The first half was dominated by Aghaderg however a few lapses in concentration in the early second half resulted in defeat.
Next game up was against Annaclone; in this game our team displayed lots of skill and scoring ability and were consistently first to the ball. This initiative resulted in them taking the lead and they were in no mood to come out second best this time! A solid team performance gave us the first win of the tournament.
The third game was against Banbridge and was a tremendous match. Neither team could forge ahead in a game that was closely contested. Following a period of sustained Aghaderg pressure, Banbridge scored a goal against the run of play. This prompted an inspired come-back and equalising goal from Aghaderg.
The final game was against the home team, Clonduff (B). The Aghaderg children showed superior skill in kicking and getting to the ball first. They displayed a fantastic ability to take great scores and ran out comfortable winners at the final whistle.
The entire team showed great improvement and the ability to compete with the best teams in the county at this level. This shows the reward for their commitment to training and their hard work throughout the winter coaching sessions. Overall it was a very encouraging performance from these young players and the club is very proud of their achievements.
