30 September 2013

Aghaderg had 4 teams playing in Blitzes on the same morning.

Aghaderg 1-0 v Killeavy 0-0
Killeavy looked to be the bigger team but the Aghaderg girls constantly fought for the ball and dominated most of the play. Even though we had many chances, half way through the match Sasha McEvoy drilled the ball into Killeavy’s net.

Aghaderg 0-0 Shamrocks 0-0
Once again the Aghaderg girls took control of the game. The full backs and goal keeper had not much to do as the midfield of Chloe and Caitlin  worked tirelessly while Emer Conway swept up any straying balls in half back. It was not going to be our day in front of the nets as Shamrocks defended well and kept our forwards out.

Aghaderg 5-0 Newry 0-0
The Aghaderg girls took their frustration of not being able to score out in this game. Sasha scored 4 goals while Caitlin added one to the tally. The work rate of Sarah Bohan and Connie Rea was excellent in keeping Sasha supplied with chances. Emer McNulty, Katie Lennon, Celine and Andrea Fletcher were all very solid in their defensive roles.

Final
Aghaderg 1-0 v Shamrocks 3-0
Shamrocks upped their game for the final match, almost from the start the Aghaderg defence was put under pressure.  Aisling Moran had to pull off her first saves of the day but unfortunately luck was on the side of Shamrocks and they put away two crucial goals.  Aghaderg reply was to battle hard in midfield and to allow Connie and Sasha goal chances. Sasha struck a ball which was batted away by the goalie however Chloe drove it into the net. The Aghaderg girls were on the comeback but a well struck goal from Shamrock was taken and it was too little too late for the Aghaderg girls.
