AGHADERG BOW OUT OF THE ULSTER CHAMPIONSHIP.

21 September 2019

Unfortunately the fairy tale came to an end today for this fantastic group of ladies when they came up against a very well organised and skilful Ahoghill team.

There was very little in it in the early exchanges with Aghaderg firing just wide on a couple of occasions. Ahoghill finally got their range however with a well struck point from distance and followed that up with a great individual piece of work from their number 11 to finish emphatically to the Aghaderg net. Caitlin Armstrong pulled one back with a long range effort from wide on the left.

Ahoghill added a further three points before adding a second major from a rebound after a fantastic save from Ciara McGovern. Aghaderg pushed forward but found the Ahoghill defence in no mood to give any ground. We eventually forced a 45' which Caitlin Armstrong converted with ease. Two more points from play by Ahoghill followed and Aghaderg responded with two more Caitlin Armstrong points to bring the half to a close.

Half time: Aghaderg 0-4 Ahoghill 2-6

Unfortunately the second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Ahoghill gaining the upper hand to extend their lead with a string of unanswered points. Although Aghaderg battled hard they just could not find that little bit of luck to unlock a resolute Ahoghill defence.
The game just ran away from Aghaderg, but this very young squad of players can be very proud of their performances this season.
To bring home a County Title for the first time in thirty years is a fantastic achievement, and the future for Senior Camogie in the Club is very bright indeed.
Well done girls, you can now enjoy a bit of down time and look forward to next year.
