BALLYVARLEY U16s EDGE A THRILLING HURLING SEMI-FINAL

Ballyvarley U-16
Hurlers had to pull out all the stops against a very strong O’Rahilly’s
team in this exciting and evenly contested championship semi-final in
Ballyvarley. An early Ballyvarley score was quickly wiped out with a
quick-fire goal and a point from the visitors but the Reds fought back
bravely and an opportunist goal from Ory McLean enabled them to lead by
1-4 to 1-3 at the interval.
The second half was tense and
low-scoring and a second O’Rahilly’s goal really put the challenge up
to a lack-lustre Ballyvarley. However, the Reds responded in true
championship style and with goalkeeper Dulctha Mag Fhionnbhairr pulling
off two superb saves, the Reds moved up a gear and pushed on for the
scores to clinch the tie and ensure their place in the Championship
Final.
Final Score: Ballyvarley 1-10 O’Rahillys 2-6.
