Our U-14A team concluded the first half of their Division 1 season with a home match against Bredagh at Aghaderg on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately the girls fell short, despite a tremendous effort for the full 60 minutes, with the final scoreline of:
Aghaderg 1-2, Bredagh 2-8
The first 6 games in Division 1 has been an excellent learning curve for this group of girls, who finished with a record of 2 wins and 4 defeats. The improvement in the quality of opposition we face each week, has demanded that our girls improve both their skills and workrate in each match. The effort and commitment of these girls each week is fantastic and the results and performances in the first 6 matches will give us a great platform to enter the second half of the season. Its hard to believe that only 12 months ago, this group of girls were playing in Div 3 football!! Great work girls.
The Development Team played host to neighbours Tullylish in the evening fixture at Aghaderg, with a tense derby battle expected. Tullylish played the first half with the aid of a breeze, and despite our girls registering the first goal and point, Tullylish had a 10 point lead at half time.
The second half produced one of the performances of the season, with the Aghaderg girls totally outplaying their neighbours and keeping them scoreless in the second period. The girls never stopped for the full match and eventually ran out with a 6 point victory:
Aghaderg 7-2, Tullylish 4-5
This also concludes the first half of the season for the Development team, as Liatroim have pulled their B team. Having completed this section of the season, a record of 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats is very promising. It was great to see a performance full of heart and determination today against Tullylish A team and to come away with a win was very special for these girls.
The most pleasing aspect of the Development team is that it means that 32 Aghaderg U-14 girls are playing football on a regular basis and improving week by week.
