MEET DOWN FOOTBALL HEROES AT THE ABBEY
Have you ever wanted to see Down manager James McCartan put his team through their paces? Well, now’s your chance and you’ll also get the opportunity to meet the players, get their autographs or have your picture taken with them.
Friday night next, 11
th
May, is the night it all happens so come along to the Abbey CBS in Newry to catch the action and be part of a great occasion. The proceedings will commence at 7.00 p.m. and will end around 8.30 p.m.
There will be entertainment, freebies and lots of craic so it is an occasion for all, young and old, to come along and join in the fun.
The initiative is part of the GAA’s campaign to promote the 2012 cCampionships and similar events will be happening across Ireland at the same time.
Down manager James McCartan said that this would be a night for the fans;
He said;
“The Down supporters are among the best in the country and hopefully we’ll reward them with a long journey in this year’s Championship. We are preparing well for our opening encounter with Fermanagh and despite a few injury setbacks we’re determined to have a real go this year.
“This event is a chance for us to give something back to the fans – bring the kids along and let them soak in the atmosphere and get to meet and greet their favourite players. It will be 2010 all over again – but hopefully the weather will be kinder than it was then when we held our open night prior to the All-Ireland final.
“Friday 11
th
May at the Abbey is in my diary – make sure you put it in yours.”
There will also be an opportunity for the media to interview some of the management and players during the course of the evening.
