A chairde,

Believe it or not it is that time again when we are beginning our preparations for our summer activities at Campa Chormaic.

We intend to host a camp for young people from Down and Armagh respectively this summer from June 30th to July 4th in St Colman's College, Newry at the same competitive price of £45.

You will remember that last year was an incredible endorsement of Campa Chormaic considering the huge numbers we attracted - 166 in total in Newry alone. We were overwhelmed by the appetite for places and found ourselves at saturation point well before the week commenced.

This year we are expecting a similar uptake from boys and girls of the locality, especially given that this year's camps throughout Tyrone, Down, Derry and Antrim will be making a big push to honour the 10th anniversary of Cormac McAnallen's passing fittingly.

This initial contact with you and the provision of the application form attached is out of courtesy as you were a fantastic supporter of our camp in previous years.

To try and avoid the rush coming up to the camp that we experienced last year the committee has decided to make two significant changes to our preparations. In particular we have decided to limit our intake to a slightly lower number of 160, for boys and girls entering P5 and above and with a desired cut off date for applications as 30th April 2014.

For some this date will seem very early but as a committee we are always trying to improve and develop year on year and we feel that by preparing early we can be in better control of how many we need in our team, how much equipment we need, how many classrooms are needed what our own Access NI and Child Protection requirements are etc. Crucially we should also know in much better time exactly how many jerseys we need and what sizes. This year we would like to have the jerseys in our possession well before start of camp and ready for allocation on day 1. An earlier cut off date for application will mean we can do these things.

Your support in the past has been phenomenal and as a committee we do not underestimate the significance of your ongoing support in helping us provide a truly unique camp for all kids and in fitting memory of the late Cormac.

Please find attached application form. You can either post this form to Rónán McMahon,St Colman's College, 46 Armagh Road, Newry or hand in to The College. Anyone wishing to apply to St Malachy's, Castlewellan should send their form to the appropriate address as indicated on the form.

We will be working on a first come, first served basis. Spread the word re Campa Chormaic in your schools and in your clubs and once again an extended thanks to you all for your support.
